AI Language Coach
Learn a language by speaking it.

A personal language app built around realistic conversation, pronunciation and adaptive practice.
The idea
Apps teach words; conversations teach a language. I wanted a coach that lets you actually talk — roleplay a real situation, get corrected gently, and practise the sounds that trip you up.
The problem
Most language apps optimise for streaks, not speaking. They avoid the hard, useful part: real-time conversation and pronunciation feedback.
The approach
Roleplay scenarios, pronunciation scoring and drag-to-order exercises, with practice that adapts to where you struggle. Built to compare local and cloud speech recognition for latency.
How AI was used
AI generates scenarios, evaluates spoken answers and adapts difficulty — the parts that used to need a human tutor.
What I learned
Latency matters more than accuracy for spoken practice; local recognition often wins on feel.
Working prototype focused on French, with the conversation and pronunciation loop in place.
More scenarios, better adaptive practice and a wider test group.
